Stewardship

No Membership fees

At Buddha Eye Temple, we are committed to a vision of community and inclusion. We don’t have a membership structure, and we don’t have membership fees, because we want our doors and our programming to be completely, profoundly open and available to all. Our programming and our institution are founded in harmony with the dharma principle of all-pervading mutuality.

We invite all who enter our gates to share in the care and keeping of this community. Stewards serve, respond, manage, and attend to the needs of others. At Buddha Eye Temple, we rely on our many stewards to keep our vision strong and our doors open. The practice of generosity, or dana, is an essential component of temple stewardship. Stewards donate money, goods and services, time, and talent to the Temple on a regular basis. Our stewards review the temple’s ongoing needs and take up the challenge of meeting those needs with their own resources, and by helping marshal the resources of the Sangha.

You don’t need to be a Buddhist to become a Buddha Eye steward! Stewardship enables direct personal exploration of interconnection and mutuality.

Becoming a Buddha Eye Steward

If you would like to become a steward, please attend one of our stewardship orientations. You may also want to speak with someone from the Stewardship Committee. Please email the committee at stewardship@buddhaeye.org

At the stewardship orientation, you will be invited to:

Reflect on your strengths and how you might share them with Buddha Eye Temple.
Connect with the Temple as an institution and learn about its structure and needs.
Commit to participation in stewarding the Temple.

Once you have completed the orientation you can attend stewardship council meetings and participate in caring for the sangha as a steward of Buddha Eye Temple. Meetings are typically held quarterly throughout the year, on Sundays immediately following Sunday Assembly. Lunch is provided!
