Autumn River Hike
Saturday Oct 20 8:30 am to 1 pm
We will meet at the temple at 8:30 a.m., sit zazen for twenty minutes, then carpool to the Owens rose garden in Eugene. We will walk along the bike path for about eight miles, including a jaunt to the summit of Skinner's Butte. This is an opportunity to enjoy the radiance of the autumn leaves as they drift in the wind and float in the flowing river. Hikers should bring appropriate footwear, water and a snack. We will return to the temple by 1p.m. A very relevant text is Henry David Thoreau's Natural History Essays. The chapters,"Walking" & "Autumnal Tints" are brilliant.
